Ostrich Fern

Matteuccia struthiopteris var. pennsylvanica

Tall upright fern with long lacy fronds. Name refers to the sterile fronds which are shaped like the tail feathers of an ostrich. Flourishes in full shade and constantly moist soil. This moderate grower reaches a height of 3 to 5 feet tall and spreads up to 2 feet wide by underground stems.
